It Takes Two
Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work.
Mathew 18:19-20 Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my father in heaven for when two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.
There is nothing wrong with remaining single; however, being single means you have no one to help with the workload, no one to care for in sickness, no one to share the ups and downs of life. It takes two.
From the beginning, God created in pairs. He made the day and the night, the land and the sea, plants and animals, man and woman. During the Great Flood, God commanded Noah, “take with you two of every kind of creature that roams the Earth.” Jesus called his disciples together, sent them out two by two, and gave them authority over evil spirits.
In his writings now known as the Book of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon wrote, “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work, if one falls, his friend can help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Yes, there is only one God, not two, but that one God has the help from three forces, the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit. It is good to find companionship with other human beings because one can help the other. Staying secluded by oneself can be an individual choice; however, those who remain alone like hermits have no one to help them in time of need. Look out for each other. If a neighbor is isolated, check on them from time to time. Let them know there is someone who can help.
Prayer: Thank you, Father, for creating us with the desire to share in one another’s life. Give strength to those who live alone and the ability to seek help from neighbors when in need.
