National World War I Museum Kansas City

We returned from our NMRA convention in Kansas City. While there I spoke at one of their VFW posts about my book Unsung Hero and sold all the books I carried with me. That was such a heartwarming experience I donated all the money from the book back for the work of that post. While at the convention we saw many model trains and real trains, but I also attended non-rail activities like spoon jewelry making, card making, an English tea party, a ladies luncheon, the banquet, and several museums. The National World War I memorial and museum is located across the street from our hotel, so I spent an entire day there. I was particularly interested in the paraphernalia and stories of the battles in which my grandfather fought. The most interesting museum was the Arabia Steamboat Museum. We also went to a coffee factory where a D-16 airplane sat on its roof and the toy and miniature museum. I’d love to return, but I doubt that is in the cards. The barbeque at Q-Restaurant was fabulous. It melted and was cooked to perfection.
