Happy Holidays

Meet the Author, Margaret Best

Hello, Today is a beautiful day in the neighborhood. The sun shines, the grass is green, and the ducks swim in the pond behind my home. I sit here looking out the window, writing in my head and typing on the computer. That’s what I like to do. I write all the time.

Margaret Best Author is my website featuring my books, articles, and memoirs. I also like to help other people write. I give expert advice, read what my friends want me to read, and critique their writing in a friendly way.

I’m usually with my eight grandchildren and three adult children and their families when I’m not writing. One set lives in Fort Lauderdale, the other in Georgia, and my son and his cat live in Plant City. Amazingly, two of my grandchildren are college graduates, and three are still studying. Four littles are in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.

I retired from teaching elementary school in 2001 and have lived in Japan, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Guam, Miami, Houston, Louisiana, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, and Georgia.

That’s all about me unless you want to know the nitty-gritty. Here, you can buy and read my memoir about life as a military brat and correspond with me on this site. The book I speak of is Dandelion Child: A Soldier’s Daughter.

Dandelion Child: A Soldier’s Daughter

This award-winning memoir follows the life of an Army officer’s daughter. during the Cold War years from 1947 to 1969. It offers a unique glimpse into childhood in the military and is written for both young adults and adult audiences. Read the adventures of a military brat and revisit the history of the era. This dandelion child, like every military BRAT is born brave and bold, resilient, responsible, and respectful. Adventurous, adaptable, and accepting, traveled, trusted, and tenacious. What was your childhood like?
